High APR on 2 credit cards, both with Citi?
November 6th, 2009 | by admin |Roxy asked:
I make a solid income, but large purchases towards a new home set me back 14,000 on one card, and 9,000 on another. Any words of advice to consolidate and get a MUCH lower interest rate? Since both cards are with one company, can they potentially merge the two? Also, thoughts on debt consolidators? Any feedback is appreciated. ty.

I would phone and ask them to consolidate the balances onto one card and close the second account. As well, ask for a lower interest rate. If they are not willing to do either, let them know that there are several other card companies that will offer you a very low rate on balance transfers and if they won’t accommodate you, someone else will. This generally works. If it doesn’t, check out the balance transfer offers from other card companies.
I would also talk to your bank about a debt consolidation loan - you should get a good rate there if your credit score is good.

Check on the internet for 0 % interest cards. You will have a 3 % fee, but if you pay them off on time it will be cheaper.
This is what I have done. I used Discover.
